Fooly Cooly also known as FLCL maybe getting a remake and more.

A few days ago, Production I.G. had announced that they attained the rights for infamous anime FLCL from Gainax. Originally both companies had worked together in developing the series. The OVA (Original Video Animation) was shown between the year 2000-2001. Yoji Enokido a screenwriter wrote the light novel FLCL, he’s known for writing scripts for Ouran High School Host Club, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Sailor Moon, and more. The series is mostly known to be the first directional production by Kazuya Tsurumaki, he was also known for his work on Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water and being the assistant director on Neon Genesis Evangelion series. He now heads the latest Neon Genesis Evangelion films.

FLCL has become an anime classic outside of Japan and has received very positive reviews for its inspiration from South Park, to its amazing soundtrack featuring Japanese Rock group The Pillows. Production I.G. explained that it would take advantage of the rights with a new anime remake and other investments. Perhaps fans will see not only a new anime, but new music, and video games inspired by the show. Here’s the link to the announcement in Japanese.
